Alison Tian – Bloomberg

‘In the past summer, I worked as an analytics and sales summer intern for ten weeks in one of the world’s leading financial data providers, Bloomberg. The experience was eye opening and extremely valuable to me as I gained extensive product knowledge and honed my communication skills.

Over the 10 weeks, we were put under a rotational program between the analytics and sales department to handle ad-hoc duties and communicate with the clients. We also handled seven projects in total including putting up a bite sized webinar for the clients, participating in the Launchpad hackathon and performing in-depth research into the carbon trading and ESG landscape in Hong Kong to prospect and generate new sales leads. I very much enjoyed being at the front-line of Bloomberg to make an impact by identifying with the clients’ needs and solving their problems.

Overall, the internship was an extremely comprehensive and well-rounded program were we had the opportunity to develop our own projects and network with the professionals. Moreover, we also participated in philanthropy programs to give back to the community and hence built a deeper understanding into Bloomberg’s innovative and inclusive values. The technology and financial markets is an ever changing and evolving world, and the front end knowledge and cutting end information I’ve gained from the internship is immensely valuable.’
