Serene TSANG – HSBC

“During the internship in HSBC Commercial Banking, I was assigned to the Innovation and Growth Team (IG) of Innovative Business and Growth Team (IBG) in Business Banking Department. As the team is a project-based strategic team, I was tasked with supporting various ongoing projects such as Faster Payment System (FPS), PayMe for Business, Open Banking API and Business Banking Strategy Paper.

I was responsible for facilitating the value preposition and implementation of HSBC’s Faster Payment System. During internship, I interacted intensively with small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) clients and vendors regarding FPS collaboration. This client facing experience has enhanced my communication skills and interpersonal skills. Besides, I have researched and assisted in the development of Strategic Paper of Business Banking, instilling myself with a forward-looking mindset. My analytical and problem-solving skills were also heightened.

It is believed that GLEF has provided students with sufficient assistance in job hunting. First, as GLEF has a sound brand name which appeals to employers, it would be an advantage for GLEF students to stand out during the recruitment progress. Second, our career support also offers up-to-dated and timely information about internship, placement and graduate vacancies, such that students could bag the first-mover advantage and a higher chance in obtaining the offer. Third, the VBA and Bloomberg workshops organized by GLEF could also enhance our technical skills. Lastly, the internship database and internship sharing are also invaluable to students as they could get a grasp of the details of various internships while knowing more about the interview tips from their seniors, which are extremely conductive to their own applications.”
