‘After the 4-year journey in preparation for the investment banking career, I have successfully landed in one of the best-performing houses on the street as an incoming analyst.
In 2022, from June to August, I have worked as a summer analyst at Citi Asia Pacific Investment Banking division. The 10-week program was one of the most meaningful and memorable moments in my life both in terms of what I learned during the experience and how I prepared for that.
Why Investment Banking?
Firstly, investment banking industry is so dynamic that it enables people working there to enjoy the steep learning curve. Unlike any other job, bankers should manage multiple projects at the same time and this environment makes bankers to equip themselves with solid soft and hard skills as they experience more.
Secondly, investment banking jobs matter to clients, industries, and societies. During companies’ life cycles, investment bankers are involved in the stages where they are raising capital for further expansion, selling the business, or acquiring another business which are all the most important moments of the companies. These impact the entire competitive landscape of the industry and even the entire economy.
Finally, corporate finance transactions need different professional entities. Bankers, consultants, accountants, lawyers, and even clients who are the industry professionals, are all involved in each transaction and controlled by the bankers. This environment will let me expand my insights and network, eventually adding value to my core abilities.’
